Conditions and Symptoms that We Treat

People look for PT in NYC when pain limits work, exercise, or sleep. Our physical therapy services address orthopedic injuries and movement problems that affect daily life and activity. We treat both recent injuries and chronic pain that has developed over time, providing care that focuses on restoring safe movement and reducing stress on joints and soft tissues.

Common reasons patients seek physical therapy in Manhattan services include:

Back pain, including disc irritation and PT for sciatica

Neck pain

Shoulder, knee, and hip injuries

Post-surgical rehabilitation

Chronic condition management, such as arthritis

Sports injuries and overuse strain

Patients seek the best physical therapy in NYC when prior treatments have not helped or after a new injury. So we follow up by creating a structured, individualized plan to support both chronic conditions and short, medium, and long-term recovery.

How Treatment Works?

Physical therapists work to identify the mechanical causes of pain and movement limitations. During the first visit, we take a detailed history, perform a movement assessment and strength tests, and establish goals. At the same time, we measure your range of motion and observe how you move during daily tasks. This assessment serves as a guide for developing a clear treatment plan that aligns with your goals and workload.

Treatment may include manual therapy, targeted exercise, and movement retraining. Manual therapy uses hands-on techniques to improve joint mobility and reduce soft tissue restrictions. When appropriate, the Graston technique can promote soft tissue recovery, and in some cases, electrical stimulation may be included to help manage pain during the early stages of healing.

Each session follows a phased rehab progression. Early visits focus on pain control and restoring basic mobility, and as symptoms improve, exercise intensity increases to build strength and support injury prevention. Pilates-based therapeutic exercise may be used to improve alignment and core stability as part of a holistic approach.

You also receive home exercise guidance to support progress between visits. Structured follow-up and reassessment ensure the treatment plan adjusts as your condition changes. The goal is not only short-term pain relief but also long-term function and reduced risk of future injury.

Why Choose ITNYCPT for Physical Therapy?

Many PT clinics in NYC treat multiple patients at the same time. At ITNYCPT, every session is one-on-one with a licensed NYC PT. No assistants are involved in your care, allowing for close supervision and consistent progress.

Keith Chan or one of his therapists sees patients at every visit and adjusts exercises in real time. This promotes safe progression and helps prevent setbacks. Patients highly recommend the personalized care for its improved communication and accountability.

This clinic does not operate as a large physical therapy team. Instead, care remains focused and individualized. If you compare New York physical therapists, consider the session structure and direct access to your provider.

IAN FUNDAL

DPT

I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy, who graduated with distinction from Touro College. My professional journey is dedicated to helping people restore their physical function, a commitment deeply rooted in my passion for physical therapy. My academic tenure began in the Philippines, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from St. Paul University in Iloilo. Seeking further knowledge, I moved to the United States to pursue my Doctorate at Touro College, specifically at their Long Island campus in New York City. Throughout my studies, I developed a strong foundation in rehabilitation sciences, anatomy, and evidence-based practices, along with a keen intellect for understanding the complexities of the human body. This has enabled me to apply my knowledge effectively in therapeutic interventions.

What to Expect From Care

Your first appointment includes evaluation and initial treatment. Most sessions last about 45 to 60 minutes and remain fully one-on-one. Frequency depends on your condition, goals, and schedule. Many patients begin with one to two visits per week, then taper as they improve.

Recovery timelines vary. Progress depends on injury severity, chronic pain history, general health, and consistency with home exercises. A person with a recent strain may improve faster than someone managing a long-standing chronic condition.

We discuss insurance plans and coverage before starting care. Physical therapy in New York City can vary in cost depending on benefits and visit frequency. If you have questions about insurance plans or out-of-network coverage, we explain the details clearly. This helps you make an informed decision.
